The Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) is Australia's largest film event and one of the oldest film festivals in the
world.  An event with a proud history, MIFF celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2011.

The opening night gala is traditionally a black tie evening for government, sponsors, celebrities and industry heavyweights,
and in previous years has featured premieres such as Muriel's Wedding (1994), Japanese Story (2002) and Balibo (2009).

Perfect Events won the tender to manage the opening and closing events of MIFF in 2011, a task that was made more
challenging in the festival's 60th year, with relocation of the event to a unique venue in the Greater Union Cinema Complex.

Liliana Sanelli's creative concept incorporated a celebration of 60 years of film.  Vintage projectors and extensive draping,
provided an innovative way to mask the tired location.  Using footage of past festivals to create a moving canvass, the space
was transformed into a venue worthy of the auspicious occasion.

The opening night after party at Melbourne Town Hall, was inclusive and entertaining.  Guests interacted in the foyer's
photobooths, while DJ Andy McClelland was a focal point in the centre of the room above the circular glow bar.

The festival closed in style under the Atrium at Federation Square.  In homage to the closing night film, Drive, guests entered
through a gateway of American muscle cars.  A surprise break dance battle, and interactive magazine photo shoot, had
guests partying the night away after a very busy and successful 60th Festival.
